Bonaire (7) – The Nature That Brings us Harmony

Washington Slagbaai National Park is located on the north part of the island. This big part of the island covered with green and some rolling hills with stone peaks. There are only two paths where you can drive through the national park: one is through the mountains and the other is through the beaches . The park entry fee is $40 per person (covering multiple days). It is highly recommended that you arrive here early, not because it is very hot to hike in the middle of the day but more importantly, you cannot go on the trail towards the highest point of the island after 12:00pm. We arrived a little after lunch, so we cannot make it that day, but I heard that you can see nearby dutch islands when you are at the peak. Wow, I wish to be there!

I hiked around nearby trails. It is still pretty interesting. This is a trail walking towards the ocean on a path of coral stones. On the horizon, I saw many windmills and big cactuses on the beach. Near the my feet, some white nails are climbing up the little plants.

The second time, I saw flag tree! (last time, it is on the crate lake)

Driving along a narrow mountain road, we found a salt lake. The scenery is so peaceful and magic. The sky is reflected in the mirroring water. The water is drying out, and in some section of lake, you can walk on the smooth wet beach. There were shells, crabs and fresh bird footprints. Nearby, some flamingos were walking around. I love places where the nature is dominating, and we were just the guest visiting. I stayed therefore a long time and did not want to leave. The nature was having fun, and I was listening.

We saw many wild animals around the park. The wild boars, some goats, this handsome iguana, and wow, so many beautiful birds.

Handsome iguana
I captured him in the best moment :D.
He was jumping around us, and enjoying his new friends

We also drove to the south of the island, and there is a wind surfing spot. We saw interesting birds such as brown pelican, whimbrel and some kind of heron.

Wow, I found a couple of live snails in the crystal clear water.

The harmony of nature brings harmony within us.
