Nature and Outdoor

Yellowstone National Park (3) Colors!

Going through Yellowstone pictures, my favorite ones are (1) crazy hairs (2) big, natural and sometimes silly, smiles (3) relaxed poses (4) comfortable clothes. It is also a favorite myself. Nowadays whatever and whoever keep me this status become my favorite things and favorite people 🙂

One of my strong impressions of Yellowstone is the beautiful colors. If I had to select one place to visit in Yellowstone, I would go to Grand Prismatic Spring. It is one of the most beautiful scenes I have ever seen on earth: in a vast open field, there is a piece of jade blue, crystal cyan water surrounded by shades of yellow ranging from egg-yellow to the desert-brown. There is a thin layer of fog rising at the water surface when super hot steams from the boiling hot spring encountered the cold air. The spring is quite big, we walked on the board walk along the spring for quite a few minutes. The air is warm with a mixture of chemical smells. You feel pristine and heavenly.

The next day I insisted hiking to the top a nearby mountain to see the entire view of Grand Prismatic Spring. There we see our small beings in front of the nature.

Another my favorite scene in Yellowstone is “mammoth hot spring”, located on the north part of the park. There limestones are shaped by acidic dissolution from the rainwater and underground water. The continuous mineral-rich flow builds stacked, terrace shapes. White and brown make an elegant mix.

Then we have vast yellow meadows, green and dark green pines stretched into the horizon. I went to Yellowstone in winter in the past. Then everything was covered under the quiet whiteness, and only mountain goats, bison, coyote and wolves show the aliveness on the landscape.

Probably because I love painting, I am fascinated by the shapes, colors and landscapes the nature makes. The nature is a peer artist at the grand master level using its brush of time and space.

See those different shades of blues, yellows, greens and whites that I hardly can name and copy. Don’t they make your little complains of life no longer matter?!
