Concert – Fish Leong

Fish Leong (梁静茹) said “today, I want to sing us till cry”. On the stage, she peacefully talked about her mother’s death, and then sang “acceptance“. Death always softly touches the alive souls. As the music arrives, the whole stadium did not make a noise and quietly accompanied her song. Such a wonderful moment!

Fish Leong is a Malaysian singer. She is not a creative song maker like Taylor Swift, and she is not a diverse singer like Lady Gaga. She is just gentle and pleasant like an older sister, who accompanied us growing up. There are many popular songs in my generation like:

Courage (勇气)
Unfortunately not you (可惜不是你)
small hand hold big hand (小手拉大手)
Happy breakup (分手快乐)
to my future self (给未来的自己)
Love You More Than Two Or Three Days(爱你不是两三天)

But when getting into the stadium, wow, I was surprised —- there are people who are older than us, people that look like young students, sad-looking single men came by himself … The stadium of 50 k seats were almost full.

The concert opened with a teaser of “courage” and other few of her popular songs; it ended with “love song”. It is my first time to hear this song but certainly one of my favorite. But I have used all my phone battery at that time, including a backup battery :). So I don’t have the video for the last song.

She changed 4-5 sets of clothes and sang about 30+ songs through out the concert, not much talking. The stage is mostly videos projecting lyrics, and don’t have much fancy dance or acoustics. But we totally enjoyed singing every song together, and the stadium is like a community karaoke 🙂 . My poor neighbors! Every video they took has my loud singing in it 😀 There is also this beautiful float that I have not seen at any other concert.

Everyone has a light bar synchronized with colors, but we could not take it home after the concert, lol

“If one day, we meet again”

As I am getting older, I like concerts more and more. The songs carry the memories and the lyrics can tune into my mind like when I was a teenager.

I texted my best friend in China when I was buying the concert ticket. She immediately said yes. When we sat in the stadium waiting for the concert to start, I can’t verbalize my emotion, just feeling this 30 years comfortably passing between us, between the moment of now and the last time we were in this Taiwan singer 张惠妹’s concert. We were older, and things happened in between like movies that are not mine. Back in high school, we went for the first concert in our life. The tickets were given by the newspapers I worked for then. Our seats were so far away from the stage, but that did not affect our excitement. We sang and danced the entire time. I still remembered that after the concert, we were still singing on the midnight street in Shanghai. I don’t remember if we managed to find a taxi and hotel, or we just walked till the morning.
