Play with the River Otters!

We were wandering at the takeshita street in Toyko for no purpose and no time limits. Then we saw a poster, “Otters! spending 2500 yen with otters for 25 minutes” (see below the picture for information). Otters are playful and cute, but will they bite and are aggressive to us? what we allowed to do with Otters? Just take a picture? We decide to explore this adventure and find our answers. After walking upstairs and paying some cash, the staff gave you a set of required outfit — a pink top, a blue skirt and green flip flops, ugly but for everyone 🙂 There is a locker to put away your belongings, except that you can take in your phone to take pictures!

When we sat down, immediately there were a few river otters jumped onto our laps and staying there for napping. Their furs are so smooth and soft 🙂 They seem to totally enjoy that you touch and pad their back.

Although they can move super fast, they obediently sat on your warm laps and barely moved for minutes. Such stillness slows down the life more than meditation.

This buddy laid on the back on my back and was totally fine that I was doing a high five with their soft hands.

Upstairs are a small set of rooms. We have visited two rooms during the 25 minutes, and many Americans were visiting here. Otters climb up your heads and faces, sometimes 🙂

In another room, the keeper was feeding them and asked them to do tricks.

I never have seen otters outside the zoo. It’s so special to play with them and marked my another “first time”. Watching them cuddle and napping is so relaxing. In this big city, they don’t want anything but napping and play. It reminds me of my childhood, where we chased in the rice paddy fields, laid down under the trees after bicycle rides, and played games in our front yards with our little friends.
