Crater Lake National Park (6) – Camping

Have you lived in a Tee-Pee tent? it is my first time too 🙂 See below — it is good-looking from outside and spacious inside! We even played the board games. Th cool thing is that when you travel via air, you don’t have to carry any camping gear, but you can live in a tent!

This time, we stayed at the Crater Lake Resort, a camp-site 20 minutes away from the Crater Lake National Park, see this beautiful drive in and out from the park.

There are other campsites and also Crater Lake Lodge (hotel) located within the park, but they are sold out months before. Crater lake national park is far (45-60 minutes drive) from big cities with good grocery stories and restaurants. The only big restaurant we saw nearby is Annie Creek Restaurant, but the waiting time is hours even when you entered at 4pm.

Well, then our campsite has a small country store which contains almost everything you need, such as wood, ramen noodles, lighter, ice bars and you name it. This time, we did not bring much food but some snacks, and we survived fine. The campsite has one centralized bathroom with shower and power. The Internet on the camp ground is durable at locations but intermittent most of the time. Besides the canoe, there are also playgrounds, sofa, a gas grill, swings and a pickle ball field, in case you feel to be laid back and stay in for some days.

Our tent is located on the back of the campsite, quiet and near a cute covered-bridge and a creek. We were there treking water, boating and hiking a small trail with wild flowers. The water is crystal clear but super cold. At some point, I was putting a watermellon in the creek for some cool flavor 🙂

One of my favorite moments of camping is to walk out late at night to go to the bath room. You see the sky full of stars, very magical. Everything is quiet but the nature is awake! My another favorite moment of camping is playing fire and cooking tasty stuff like smores. After a day of hiking, we came back during dusk, and the campsite was full of all the burning-wood smell in the air. Everyone was cooking dinner! Wow

Then another another great moment in camping is when you wake up still in bed, you see this morning sun, peaking through the window. Sometimes you hear the birds right on top of your head. Everything in camping feels amazing because you are just one-layer-cloth away from the nature. My ideal stay at the campsite is 4-5 days and then I will start missing spacious showers and good food.
